Cyber MDX is known for its research into potential cyberthreats against connected health care devices like patient monitors and infusion pumps.

"The bigger picture here is authentication, and it’s a problem that’s unfortunately typical for medical devices," said CyberMDX's Elad Luz.

DHS put out an alert on six vulnerabilities, known collectively at “MDhex,” that have critical severity scores.

The research points to a broader problem of insecure firmware used in medical devices, according to CyberMDX.

The Alaris Gateway Workstation can be "bricked" by one attack, and another would allow hackers to reconfigure it or monitor what it does, researchers with CyberMDX say.
